Basler Brunsli Chocolate Almond Cookies (Swiss Christmas Cookies)

Prettaly_BaslerBrunsli_Xmas.jpg

This year I wanted to try some new Christmas cookies and living in Switzerland, baking some typical Swiss cookies was self-evident! These have evolved to my assortment of absolute favorite cookies and as of now will be baked every year! They also go really well with ice cream or a semifreddo… Continue reading “Basler Brunsli Chocolate Almond Cookies (Swiss Christmas Cookies)”

Pumpkin & Buttermilk Cake with Frosting

Prettaly_PumpkinButtermilkCake.JPG

It’s nearly time for Thanksgiving and in the spirit of everyone bringing something, this is an ideal cake. I baked it a day prior to eating it, only preparing the frosting on the day itself and the cake was a delight! Super nice and moist.

Little tip on the side: If you have leftover pumpkin purée, just add a little broth and you have a wonderful soup! Continue reading “Pumpkin & Buttermilk Cake with Frosting”

Pre-Advent Cinnamon & Dates Tart

Prettaly_CinnamonDatesTart_WithDates.jpg

The air outside is getting colder and the lust for some me-time (or friends time) in the afternoon with a comforting cup of tea or coffee is also getting bigger. At least for me. This tart is a nice alternative to a heavy cake, as the dates give lots of sweetness, but doesn’t really leave you with a bad conscience… Continue reading “Pre-Advent Cinnamon & Dates Tart”

Apple-Sauce & Yoghurt Bundt Cake

Prettaly_AppleSauceYoghurtBundtCake_Piece.JPG

Oh my!! This cake is a real find. Super juicy and absolutely delicious. It matches the colder season with the apple sauce (where you could of course even prepare your own and not use a bought version) and with the hint of cinnamon, it slowly accompanies you into the autumn season. Fluffy Lemon Cake

Prettaly_FluffyLemonCake.jpg

It’s cake time! This is another reason I like the end of summer and the start of the colder season. It gets colder outside and a coffee & cake combo in the afternoon is just pure bliss. Relax a bit, either with a good friend, catching up on life or just for yourself with a little me-time. Just as a little info – the cake is not super sweet with the amount of sugar, but just right, for my taste at least!

Looking for a fast, easy and delicious dessert idea? Well here you are. Very fresh, especially for sunny BBQ-days and has this little extra twist with the roasted pine nuts. Perfectly easy to prepare before the guests arrive (just cool in the fridge) and it’s not as heavy, so a really nice finish to a dinner or BBQ.

A lovely tart, that might remind you of a cheese cake at first, but actually uses Greek yoghurt instead. It you want to have it sweeter, just add a little sugar into the yoghurt filling. Easy to make and no need to bake!
