German Pancakes (Pfannkuchen)

Prettaly_GermanPancakes.JPG

Another lovely walk down memory lane…as children (and up to today) I adore German pancakes – they are a little different from the American version (which are much more fluffy) and also different to the French crepes, which are super thin.

You can prepare them sweet and salty – for example with a little cheese inside and / or ham. Or for the sweet version with apple sauce, a mix of cinnamon and sugar, Nutella, marmalade or my favorite with butter and sugar on top! Yum!!

Coconut Rice Pudding

The taste and smell of coconut always reminds me of vacation. Somewhere a little exotic…not sure about you, but if we travel anywhere, where you can get a fresh coconut to drink, I’m the first to grab it! Super refreshing and just mind-blowing delicious!
So why not combine this summer feeling with one of my favorite comfort foods?
So this was a try and I just adore it! Hope you like it too!

Creamy Raspberry Quark

Prettaly_RaspberryQuark.jpg

A delicious, yet simple dessert or breakfast. The quark is light (the less sugar you add) and you can combine it with any fruit or cereal you like. Ideal as a quick snack too. The sparkling water makes the consistency super creamy! Give it a whirl!

Pumpkin Seed Cream Cheese Spread

Prettaly_Pumpkin_Seed_Creamcheese_Spread.jpg

I first got to know this absolutely delicious spread during a dinner of a very good Austrian friend of mine. She served this as an appetizer everyone adored it! It’s typical in the «Steiermark» region of Austria.

By the way – should you have any left, it’s a perfect addition to the breakfast or brunch table! Or just prepare half of the amount for a smaller portion, just for the family.

Banana Bread with Chocolate

The best banana bread just got even better! I was inspired by a friend who added lovely chunky bits of dark chocolate to the mix and it was absolutely delicious. Give it a try!

Pre-Advent Cinnamon & Dates Tart

Prettaly_CinnamonDatesTart_WithDates.jpg

The air outside is getting colder and the lust for some me-time (or friends time) in the afternoon with a comforting cup of tea or coffee is also getting bigger. At least for me. This tart is a nice alternative to a heavy cake, as the dates give lots of sweetness, but doesn’t really leave you with a bad conscience… Continue reading “Pre-Advent Cinnamon & Dates Tart”

Quark with Blueberries & Roasted Pine Nuts

Prettaly_Curd_Blueberries_Pinenuts.JPG

Looking for a fast, easy and delicious dessert idea? Well here you are. Very fresh, especially for sunny BBQ-days and has this little extra twist with the roasted pine nuts. Perfectly easy to prepare before the guests arrive (just cool in the fridge) and it’s not as heavy, so a really nice finish to a dinner or BBQ.

Lemon & Poppy Seed Bread

Prettaly_LemonPoppySeedBread_landscape.jpg

Here is another nice recipe for a brunch or afternoon snack. The recipe says it’s a bread, but its kind of a bread-cake-mix I would say. But delicious in any case…

Sugar-Free Carrot Bread

Prettaly_CarrotBread.JPG

In February and March it’s the typical fasting time. And this year, we are going forward with this and are fasting alcohol and sweets (anything like desserts, sugar, sweeties, chocolate (yes, I know its not that easy)). And this is where a friend gave me this sugar-free carrot bread recipe, which substitutes sugar with dates. Clever idea I thought and gave it try and you know what? It’s really tasty! We served it for brunch and as an afternoon snack – both perfect!
