Saltimbocca alla Romana

Prettaly_SaltimboccaAllaRomana.jpg

This is an Italian classic – originating from Rome. It consists of practically only 3 ingredients but is pure perfection for your taste buds…
It’s fairly simple to prepare and due to the thin slices of veal, the cooking time is really short, which is very helpful when preparing for guests (or hungry family)!

Sweet Potato and Ground Meat Casserole

sweetpotatogroundmeetcasserole

I’ve always been a big fan of ground meat, especially in a casserole style. The sweet potatoes give this recipe a special sweetness and makes it a little different to other tastes you usually experience. And the cheese on top is yummy scrummy. A perfect comfort food for an easy weekday dinner at home or ideal for kids…

Parmesan-Breaded Veggie Kohlrabi Schnitzel with Cucumber Salad

ParmesanBreadedKohlrabiSchnitzelWithCucumberSalad.jpg

Another very nice vegetarian dish, easy to prepare and a nice alternative for a weekday dinner. And I love cucumber salad always and everywhere! Hope you like the combo.

Did you know that Kohlrabi has a German origin, coming from the words «Kohl» (cabbage) and «Rabi» (Swiss German for turnip)? And as it is not so common, the original German name «Kohlrabi» stuck even in English-speaking countries or is translated into cabbage turnip!

Lambs Lettuce with Bacon-Wrapped Dates

Prettaly_LambsLettuceWithDatesInBacon.jpg

One evening I was looking into the fridge and was deciding what to cook for the evening. I often have lambs lettuce and avocado in the house (as you might have noticed – both favorites in my kitchen) the bacon and dates caught my eye. In Germany we call dates rolled into bacon as follows: «Dates in Bacon-Coat». The combination of the salad, avocado and dates with bacon was an absolute delight! Hope you like it.

Lambs Lettuce with Seed-breaded Feta

Prettaly_LambsLettuceSeedBreadedFeta.jpg

The sun is out and a fresh salad is all you can think about? Here is a great way to add a little extra to your salad! Feta is always nice with salad, but the crust makes the whole salad to a real lunch or dinner and doesn’t leave your hungry. You can of course also prepare as a starter. The crispy crust is delicious and I can also imagine other fruit that would go well with it!

Classic Cottage Pie

Prettaly_CottagePie_Steps.jpgOh the memories, oh such comfort food. Love this dish – a classic in my mom’s repertoire up until now. One of the favorite dishes we wish for, when we come home to visit.

There are two ways to prepare the cottage pie – either you prepare everything from scratch or you buy frozen veggies and ready-made mashed potatoes. Surely helpful when you are in a hurry and don’t have time to prepare everything freshly…

Leftover Raclette Casserole

Prettaly_LeftoverRacletteCasserole_Compilation.JPG

A very popular and typical dish for new year’s eve is Raclette (at least in Switzerland and Germany). And as a good host, of course you want to have enough food, so you have to think what to do with the leftovers. And what better to do than to make an easy leftover casserole! Just add any ingredients you might still have, top with the leftover Raclette cheese and let the oven do the rest! Continue reading “Leftover Raclette Casserole”
